Certificate in Spiritual & Psychic Studies 2016

What gifts are hidden within you-

Tap into your unique gifts and talents

The Certificate of Spiritual & Psychic Studies is a fantastic place to start on your new journey. It is an in-depth course preparing you well for your soul’s journey or continuing to live your life in a grounded spiritually aware framework.

INTRODUCTION

Have you ever had the feeling that you don’t quite fit into society’s norm? That you’re a bit different to others? That people around you sometimes don’t get where you’re coming from and don’t understand your view on life? Personally, I could never just see the physical aspect of anything. For me there was always the spiritual part of my psyche or the conscious awareness that needed to be included when making decisions, and I know that made others feel really uncomfortable at times.

I honestly felt like I was living in a parallel universe. I always wondered if there was anyone else around like me, someone I could relate to. I spent a good part of my life trying to conform, not that it ever really worked.

When I was young I just assumed that everyone was able to see energy around people; to see Spirit, hear Spirit, and know things were going to happen before they did. It was actually quite disheartening to learn this wasn’t the case. Thankfully, everything started to make a lot more sense when I was guided to a Spiritualist Centre where there were other people on the path to spiritual understanding and knowledge. I felt for the first time in my life that I belonged, and that it was okay to walk my path with one foot in my own parallel universe and one on the Earth-plane.

It was here that I began to understand I was searching for my truth, and my truth was interwoven into my search to understand more about Spirit and my Soul’s Journey. What it was I was to do with the knowing and skills I possess. I wanted to know why I was here and what my journey was about. This journey has led me in many different directions, but I have always trusted that everything I was being guided to do was for a reason. In my 50’s I went to university and got a degree in nursing, specialising in mental health. I knew this was something I had to do. I wasn’t sure where it would lead to, but it was some thing I knew I needed to understand more about. I had first hand experience of watching others struggle with mental illness and my desire to understand their predicament was to enhance my own ability to care for them, and thus understand more about what Spirit had in store for me.

come to the edge he said.

At least mental illness is being talked about these days. Not that long ago it was a subject that many found difficult to discuss. However, at some time in our lives, we will all have to deal with it one way or another. Where we may suffer from anxiety, depression, loss or grief. For our purpose here, I’ve incorporated it into grounded spiritual practice in a sensitive and gentle way as I believe we should all be including mental, emotional and spiritual wellness into our personal daily practice. In this course you’re going to read and learn about grounded spiritual practice, and learn to about your own spiritual and soul journey. Understand that we all have lesson’s that we have chosen to work through and knowing about them can change how we choose to deal with them. That in its self is really empowering. We delve into how you can create a different life for yourself with practical, reality-based tools and techniques to help you.. The topics covered and the answers here are what I found worked for me, and hopefully, will work for you too.

Learn about yourself, trust that you are here for a purpose, and that the very essence of your being is to promote a much more loving, balanced and harmonious life for yourself. This, in turn, invokes the ripple effect. You might have heard of it.

Think about what happens when you throw a stone into a pond and you watch the ripples move outward. From the throwing of that one stone so many other things can change. This fascinating phenomenon, when applied to our personal situations, has a great way of changing old attitudes into a new and freer way of being.

You need to be mindful that we are all interconnected, so therefore, what you do, say, and think will impact on others. Whenever you make a change, think of the ripples your behaviour can create.

A good philosophy is to live in harmony with ourselves, be at peace with our world and learn to live in the flow of life.

Your Soul’s Journey

Your whole purpose of being in this physical reality is to allow your soul to have an Earthly experience, thereby enabling it to evolve and develop awareness and knowledge. Your life challenges, obstacles, blessings and desires, are a part of the journey that your soul needs to experience until it reaches nirvana. Your spiritual gifts and talents can help you achieve the balance between your soul’s experiences and your physical reality, keeping you connected to your soul-self.

You are, after all, a spiritual being having a physical experience, not the other way around. So many of us go searching for something that will help us become spiritual and give our lives a sense of meaning while not understanding that the answers are within, just waiting for you to tap into that pool of knowledge and allow it to unfold.

The Australian Aboriginal, the New Zealand Maori, and the Native American Indian cultures still incorporate their spiritual beliefs and practices into their everyday lives. Their knowledge is handed down from generation to generation so that it is never lost.

In the Maori culture, children grow up learning about the sacredness of the land and sea which provide food for their communities. They learn when to eat certain foods and what plants to use for medicinal purposes. They learn about their tribes. The children are taught to speak their native language so that it is not forgotten. Often, this knowledge comes from spending time with their grandparents and elders, not in the form of formal education as we might know it, but from stories and songs and a vast oral tradition.

The Maori believe all living things are descended from the Gods and are embodied within certain mountains, rivers and lakes. All things have a type of soul – the Wairau. This is one of the reasons the Maori have such strong spiritual ties to the land and sea. They listen to the environment as they would listen to any member of their community.

Solid spiritual practice, or Grounded Spiritual Practice as I like to term it, means listening to and being guided by your inner wisdom and knowing, your intuition and guides, but also being grounded about it all. So let’s try and find some practical ways to bring your unfolding knowledge into your daily existence.

The healing garden

spring 2 @ mUMS

About six weeks ago Hully my husband who has been doing a Horticulture Course chose as his landscape design Mum’s garden in New Zealand.

Mum has had two beautiful gardens both quite different. The first one was 6 acres and her last one was a much smaller space for her but this was the one we all loved.

We never lived there but it was home. It was where we went to stay for Christmas, and any other time we went home. We looked forward to it, as we knew we were going to see family cousins, aunties, uncles and friends. But it was a place to heal, where stress disappeared, calmness descended and for the time you were in the garden you felt totally at peace.

It also gave us a chance to help Mum do the bigger jobs in the garden. For me it was a time to reconnect with the mountains and the beauty of the place.

So getting back to the job in hand. Hully drew his plan to scale and my job was to look at photos and work out what the names of the plants were and the botanical names so they could be added to the design. She had a lot of plants in her garden but I have learnt the names and cried a lot…

It was such a joy but for me so emotional because I know we will never go there again, to sit on the veranda and look out over the lawn and at the garden, that we will not look out the window and see her practicing her golf putting on the lawn. That we won’t see her out in the rose garden that she loved so much. I loved being there and I miss her and her beautiful healing garden.

For those of you who have lost loved ones we will always hold them in our hearts but there is no time on when you stop grieving. I am glad Hully did this design Mum would have been so proud of him.

But we are thankful that she had the ability to create such a beautiful space that we as a family all loved.

Are you experiencing any of these symptoms?

sunset-20398_1920

  • Heart palpitations
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Feeling sick or nauseous
  • Cold or clammy hands
  • Hot flushes or chills
  • Increased heard rate
  • Dry mouth
  • Trouble sleeping

You maybe depressed or stressed

It’s okay we have all been there at sometime.

I worked in a very stressful workplace environment and found myself the target of bulling and harassment. I was tired all the time, not sleeping, unproductive, and certainly had no clarity or peace of mind. I didn’t want to go out the front door. I cried a lot basically I gave up I couldn’t see the point. Because I was on work cover I got sent to see a psychologist who did not get me at all. In fact every time I came a way from seeing him I would be in tears. I told him I could see colours around people stupid thing to do really but I was so vulnerable. Lucky I didn’t end up in the mental health unit I was working in.

One of the things I learnt from him though was that sensitive people should not be working in really stressful environments.

  • I started walking out in nature round a lake near us. I would sit and watch the ducks.
  • I meditated and talk to my guide (didn’t tell the psychologist that though).
  • I count my blessings that I have these abilities as they helped me through this period.

Learning meditation, relaxation techniques, and positive psychology, was a lifesaver for me and I could not imagine my life without them now.

My friend convinced me to go and do a transpersonal counselling course with her which was the best thing I ever did. I always told her that if I could find something that was close to Spiritual Psychology I would go. Transpersonal Counselling is.

For you it to will pass

Don’t be afraid to go and see someone and get some professional help. Find someone who gets you and can help. It won’t work if you don’t like them. Keep looking. There will be someone there.

There is no shame in it.

Self-care management techniques:

  • Walk it doesn’t have to be far, but far enough to get the endorphins working ( about 20minutes).
  • Use relaxation techniques.
  • Lessen the amount of caffeine taken daily.
  • Eat a healthy diet: three main meals a day – don’t just graze.
  • Be kind to yourself.
  • Do something just for you.
  • Have your hair cut.
  • Soak in the bath.
  • Sit in the sun.
  • Do nothing.
  • Do yoga or Tai Chi.
  • Ask a friend to look after your children.
  • Never be afraid or ashamed to ask for help; you are human, not superhuman.
  • Talk to someone about how you are feeling, don’t bottle it up.
  • Walking, jogging, and running really help with mental wellness.
  • Meeting up with friends is vital. even if you don’t feel like it. It will get better.
  • Keep up your interests to whatever extent you can.
  • Keep a journal this really helps.

Often the symptoms of anxiety, stress, depression and grief are due to us living our lives out of balance and needing to take responsibility for our own choices in life. But it can all be changed. There is always hope, if you are willing to make a positive difference in your life.

How not feel drained between clients

wallpaper-830417_1280

This is a problem that seems to be becoming more talked about especially for Healers, Empathetic Counsellors, Mentors, Intuitive readers and so on.

So what is happening?

Sensitive’s, emphatics and those who are intuitive are starting to feel things more deeply, sense things that they weren’t open to before and much, much more aware.

How can we look after ourselves?

We probably all have some ritual that we do or protection that we use, but we are finding that they no longer work. Just as we need to up grade our virus protector on our computers, the same thing applies to our use of energy protection.

We need to change what is not working and be mindful of what our body is telling us.

  • If we need to have more time between clients then do so.
  • If our body says rest then rest, even a 10-minute rest, no reading, just closing your eyes and resting is good.
  • Make sure that you are doing some form of energy protection it is vital to protect your energy from others.
  • You may find you need more alone time.

Here is what I do.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKDy-7G1rP0

and I also go into more depth in my free e-book ‘Taking Back Control’

I do need more alone time, a lot more. This year for me has been huge even though I have known what has been happening, it still hadn’t prepared me for how it impacted on my emotions and body.

  • I meditate daily.
  • I use the Golden Rose energy for protection, which I use in conjunction with clearing and grounding and they work. It’s quick and simple.
  • We have tested this little ritual, so you give it ago for a couple of days and then stop and see what happens.

I have included a link above to a video that explains all about how to do it and why it works. If you require more protection, as sometimes you will, I also cut cords at night before going to sleep.

  • Imagine that with a knife, you are cutting the cords that are attached to your chakra centres that are not yours. Making sure you do the back and the front of the chakra centres.
  • Then imagine they are going back to where they belong.
  • Send them back with love.
  • You can also imagine that mirrors all facing outwards are surrounding you. You can use what works for you or the lot. But they need to be done frequently.

See how you go and please pass this on if it helps.

My Life as a Clairvoyant

New-Zealand-Itineraries-South-Island-69

But you look normal !!!!

When are you going to get a real job?

You must be working for the devil

Tell me some numbers in lotto

These are pretty tame but all the same they are things that I would get thrown at me when I first started doing Intuitive Readings. I was born clairvoyant not that I had any idea what that was, as if you would growing up on a farm in the South Island of New Zealand in the 1950- 60’s. That seems like a lifetime ago.

Being born a clairvoyant medium has over the years been both a burden and a blessing. I struggled with coming to terms with these gifts as it is still difficult to try and explain why you are feeling so awful when you are with a lot of people for example in shopping centres, in the city, that’s why I need my own space.

This last year with all the energy shifts has been exceptional draining but when we are through it I’m hoping I can fly, well teleport maybe?????

As a child growing up in a very quiet beautiful part of New Zealand, I realized that other people didn’t see the world quite the same way as I did. My world was crammed full of spirits that no one else could see and I learned the hard way, when giggling at the spirit children playing in my classroom, that life can be more challenging when you are born “gifted”.

I was able to see colour around living things, and felt people’s feelings, which is what emphatics do. I just assumed that every one could do this. As a result of my naivety, I spent a good part of my last two years of primary school, outside in the corridor! My Dad, who also had my abilities to some degree, said just be careful who you talked to about what you see, as not everyone understands. Living on the farm taught me about sustainability, looking after the land we lived on. The peace, the love of animals and the solitude it brought. When at age 13 my parents sold the farm, I was devastated. I told them I was staying and felt lost and betrayed. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was suffering from depression. I was just so sad. But I always knew that God was with me, no matter what, and that always pulled me through, it gave me hope.

I spent most of my younger years trying to fit in, conform, not to be seen as different. I think I did quite a good job, but I was so unhappy. It wasn’t until I met my husband, that I finally had someone who understood me. Living with me would have been a challenge, for I knew when things were right or not, my intuition was very strong and spirit was always in my ear. I knew when it was time to move or that I needed to do something.  Not that I always followed my knowing. For someone who takes that for granted and just flows with it, it’s normal. No proof needed. But when you live in the logical world, it can be hard to cope with. It wasn’t until circumstances had us moving to Wanganui, in the North Island of New Zealand and I started attending a Spiritualist Centre, that I finally truly felt I belonged. They told me they had been waiting for me. That made me think!

When I was younger we used to go to church. The only reason I went was because I loved the singing and the beautiful stained glass windows. When I got to about 12 I wouldn’t go anymore because I knew I could talk to God where I was, he wasn’t always in church. I also knew he had work for me to do, but I didn’t know what that was either.

At the Spiritualist Centre I began my training and it felt like I was just re learning to ride a bike. I learnt to manage my gifts, and to work responsibly with them, which made life a little easier. I knew our move to the North Island was in preparation for our shift to Australia, which when it came, happened quickly! How do you explain to parents this is what spirit wanted us to do? It did sound crazy.

On a spiritual level I never looked back, but on an emotional level I had some very big lessons to learn that nearly pulled me under.

My guide told me at the beginning of this year that in order to help and empower woman I need to have understood their pain, sorrow and struggles. I could have really done with out them, but I do understand what they were saying!

My husband’s serious illness at the beginning of 2000 changed our lives again. There was talk of him being put on the heart transplant list, but fortunately that wasn’t required. Financially we struggled, but always managed. There we a lot of people who helped us and to them, I am eternally grateful.

Through the next five years of many hospital visits to Doctors it was becoming clear that I was being guided to study nursing. At 58 years of age, I got a degree in Nursing, specializing in Mental Health. I realized I loved learning, it’s something you never stop doing! One of the things that I came to really understand over the years and is a big part of my teaching, is that unresolved

Emotional / mental issues can create physical illness.

When working in mental health I was bullied by some staff members, something that should never have happened, but it lead me to move on and get a diploma in Transpersonal Counselling, which was as close to Spiritual Psychology as I could get and I love it..

I got back into running classes, started writing and have now come full circle. ‘Achievable Enlightenment’ is published and another one waiting to be published.

Over the next few months I will be getting back into my Clairvoyant Readings, on Skype and email. Working on developing new e-courses and workshops that will empower and inspire women to take back control of their lives and retreats. I am so excited about all of this. It is like letting me loose in the gardening centre and telling me I can have whatever I want that would be scary.

My purpose is to help you achieve a sustainably happy healthy life and show you how you can do this.

Through Intuitive Readings, Meditation and Intuitive Development Classes.

Until I see you again be happy

“But ….I’m Grieving.” How to Begin to Care For Yourself While You’re Grieving

we grieve with hope

One of the biggest losses that we will experience is the death of a loved one. Bereavement grief is difficult to cope with, and we all experience it differently. It often shows up as a physical and psychological reaction to the changes that have been forced upon us in a significant and meaningful way

Grief diminishes with time. Sometimes the pain of grief can increase in the first few months after a death, as not only the reality of what has happened is sinking in, but the support structures that were initially in place starts to fall away. Grief is a journey, and it cannot be hurried. It demands patience, emotional energy and courage. You are starting a new phase in your life and adapting to new challenges but you must also find the reserves of strength to call upon hope, courage and faith.
We experience many things when grieving; both emotional and mental. We can be experiencing them all at the same time. Shock, pain, sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety, mental disorganisation and feeling overwhelmed, relief, and loneliness. This is normal when you are grieving.

Sometimes it may seem easier to avoid grief, as nobody really wants to have to have grief in his or her life, but it is a healthy part of living. When we try to avoid grief it doesn’t go away, it just becomes more overwhelming. The harder we try the worse it becomes.

A healthy way to grieve

Is having the ability to move between the challenges of what you may need to deal with; the pain and emotion, and the practical aspect of day to day living. It may seem impossible, but when you look at yourself, what you are feeling and analyse your reactions, sometimes a path of action and reaction becomes clear.

Some Symptoms of Grief

Grief is the reaction we have to losses of significance in our lives. This can include:

  • Loss of a pet
  • Loss of a job or employment
  • Loss of health
  • Loss of a loved one
  • Ending a relationship
  • Loss of plans, goals or a dream

One of the biggest losses that we will experience is the death of a loved one. Bereavement grief is difficult to cope with, and we all experience it differently. It often shows up as a physical and psychological reaction to the changes that have been forced upon us in a significant and meaningful way.

Grief symptoms can include:

  • Sadness, anger
  • Breathlessness, physical weakness
  • Confusion, crying, withdrawing from family and friends

How we experience grief, and for how long, depends upon many factors, such as how much the person meant to us, the role we played in caring for them, and how strongly we identified with their experiences.

What was our state of mind was like at the time? The state of our emotional, spiritual and physical wellness is also important. What other factors were happening in our lives at the time of their passing? It is not only a major loss in itself but it can often mean other losses as well such as:

  • Loss of income or financial security
  • Loss of routine, stability
  • Loss of future together
  • Loss of mutual friends
  • Loss of opportunities

Some key ideas to help with grief:

  • Take time for yourself each day
  • Keep a journal – it can help
  • Have a good cry it is part of the healing process
  • Avoid making any major decisions for at least a year
  • Take life one day at a time
  • Write a letter to the one you have lost can really help
  • Get help with financial matters
  • Find a good listener or grief counsellor
  • Take care of yourself
  • Get regular exercise with gardening, walking, yoga or Tai Chi
  • Relaxation Meditation
  • Keep up with your hobbies, passions, and anything you love doing
  • Create or continue a Grounded Spiritual Practice

I found for me when dealing with grief that the saying, ‘time heals’ is true. As time passes, you manage better.
